Immune System Concept Map: The 3 lines of Defense
Step 1- Create the concept map
2. Make a concept map using all of the following terms.
3. Remember:
A. A concept map is not linear; it should have interconnections.
B. Place each of the key terms below in its own separate “bubble.”
C. Each line of Defense should have a different "Bubble" shape

Step 2- Add bubbles to the concept map that form a bottom tier which describes the function of each of the bubbles from the previous level
Ex. tears --> salt water and enzymes which flush out invading pathogens from the eyes
Step 3-
Show your completed concept map with additions to the teacher/substitute and receive the example concept map with handwritten in comparisons.
Step 4-
In a GOOGLE DOC shared with katherine_kolesar, explain how each example is a good analogy/comparison between the United State's defenses against invasions and the body's defenses against invasions. 1 or 2 sentences per defense starting with the first line of defense, then second, then third. If you don't know what an item such as NAPALM is google it or ask around.
Ex. Tears/Coast Guard- The tears use salt water to keep large groups of aliens/pathogens from invading the body, just as the Coast Guard uses ships on the ocean (salt water) to gather up large groups of invaders to be kept out of the US.
